Eight months old and all I got was this bump on my head!!

Yep, Colton is now 8 months old!! So crazy!! And on his eight month birthday he slammed his forehead into our entertainment center and got a nice bump on the head. It was a good smack on the edge so it actually almost broke the skin, but thankfully he survived just fine.

Well, you can't even hardly see it even when you enlarge the picture, but trust me it is there!!

Colton is very much trying to crawl and getting very frustrated in his attempts. I guess he really IS crawling (for about a month) but not the general way. I have read about babies doing a 'crab crawl' where they push off their arms instead of pulling and that results in a very annoyed baby moving backwards when he wants to go forward. He will try go get to us if he is sitting up and we are nearby and usually ends up falling over trying to get to us and he is also trying to pull up if he is sitting and you are standing! It is all very exciting and means we really need to do a little more babyproofing very soon!!

Colton LOVES taking a bath and he loves to see himself in this wacky bathtub mirror!

Fun after the bath!

So handsome!! Check out the work boots!!

Love those beautiful eyes!!

First time IN the snow!!

Colton is doing great eating solid foods at daycare, but at home he still really isn't all that interested but is doing better each day. This past week we have been having MAJOR problems sleeping through the night and we are all like zombies. Hopefully he will get over this phase pretty quickly!!

Video of a chatty baby!

Colton had this small bald spot on the back of his head when he was smaller and was on his back a lot. What is interesting is that the hair that has grown in there is much lighter than all the rest of his hair. It is almost white-blonde! Hard to see in a picture though, but I'll try to get on to show. Maybe it is a birth mark? Hopefully it will go away!!

I have a ton more pictures but I'll try to do another post for those so I can finally get this update up!!

Love this one!

Snoozing with Poppa (who is actually faking it)

Hmm, you'd think he's sleeping all the time from these pictures, but that is not the case!!

During the cool weather we dress up the poor child for school or going on a walk. This was his horsey Halloween costume. :-) He was SO adorable laying on the floor while I got ready I couldn't help but take a million pictures.

Colton is 7 months old this week!! So hard to believe how fast the time has already gone!! Colton is doing so much these days!! He is sitting up very well on his own and can sit and play and talk to himself for quite a while (until he notices I tried to leave the room to unload the dishwasher or something!). He still totters over, espeically if that toy he needs is just out of reach, but it is so awesome!!
Hey, I'm reading here! Leave me alone!

Here is a little video of him sitting and talking. It is super dark and, yes, sideways and I don't know how to fix either BUT it is still cute to hear him talking and you can see him waving around his bear book while he chats.

We anticipate he will be crawling VERY soon!! He does this superman pose where he lifts his arms and legs up at the same time and looks like he is trying to fly (or swim) but he has also started pushing his chest off the ground and trying to push off with his legs straight out. He also loves to stand and will pick up one foot or the other like he is going to try to walk somewhere!

We have been having some nursing issues the last couple of weeks that have been very frustrating to Brigette, but hopefully it will work itself out pretty soon. We have been trying SOLID FOODS also!! We started rice cereal on 1/1/10 and he LOVED it! He ate it very well for several days, then was sick so we didn't give it to him for over a week. When we started back, however, he wanted nothing to do with it! So weird! So we have tried a few other things like peas, sweet potatos, and this week we are trying butternut squash. He did not care for the peas, and took a few tries on the sweet potatos before he would swallow any, but he has eaten a little of that and has eaten a little of the butternut squash this week. He still isn't nearly as interested as he was when he started rice cereal but seems to be warming up. Brigette is making the food herself (but not the cereal) and that has been pretty easy. May try some fruit later this month but we were trying to do veggies first so he wouldn't just have the sweet fruit as his first food and who would want peas after that?!

Video of his first taste of rice cereal:

Here, Mummy, let me help you!

Hey! Bring that back over here!

Aftermath :-)

Sly little smile!!

Early January we had a snow day in GA!! Here are pictures of Brigette and Justin braving the weather (and snow covered granite!) at Stone Mountain:

Happy New Year!!

We hope that you all had a lovely Christmas!! We certainly were blessed in 2009 and hope you all have had a wonderful start to 2010! Our Christmas cards are slowly making their way out to everyone, better late than never. :-) Doesn't help that Brigette feels the need to write a note in each one...it does peeve her to get a card that is not even signed by the people who sent it BUT we do absolutely understand families with kids and the time it takes. Sometimes you have to choose and getting the cards out on time sometimes will trump signing or writing notes! Obviously, not for Brigette. :-)

Christmas was great fun!! Had one day with Justin's family and another day with Brigette's family. Colton got all dressed up and was adorable, even though he didn't have a clue what was going on! The most he did was chew on and drool on his gifts, but we all enjoyed it!! He seemed to enjoy all the colors and the twinkle lights on Brigette's parents' tree. Was such fun remembering that a year ago at Christmas we shared our news with everyone about being pregnant and now Colton is here and is already 6 months old!! If you want to review the reveals again from last year, here is the link:

W have a TON of pictures from Christmas (celebrated it twice with our families) so it has taken forever to weed through and post some of the favorites.

Cuddling

My uncle is crazy!

Reading "T'was the night before Christmas" with Poppa

With Grandpoppa Y!

Colton is obviously not impressed with the gift opening hoopla.

Christmas cuties!

Unnessarily cute outfits:

Colton was visited by Santa twice this year, although I don't think he was sure what was happening either time. Brigette is annoyed she didn't know about Santa coming to the daycare and didn't get Colton dressed up very cute-seems like only Ms. Claus was excited that day anyhow. :-) So just sharing the first visit with Santa pictures:

Colton is just doing all kinds of interesting things these days. He is facinated with his hands. He opens and closes them and turns them around. He thinks it is very interesting! He also likes to suck in his lips, which is very cute. Will try to get a picture to post. He has this slient laugh that is so cute! He smiles, opens his mouth and....makes no sound. Pretty cute, although his real giggles are awesome. :-)

This week he has figured out that it is fun to roll around in his crib at night. Which means we have to get up and rescue him when his foot or his arm is sticking through the slats on the crib sides. Brigette also heard this odd noise one night and thinks he was sucking/chewing on the side of the crib for some unknown reason. :-)

Colton was sick with a stomach bug last week again. Poor thing. Brigette had to change them both after every meal. He was on and off with throwing up most of the week. Did fine, then went to daycare and was fine, then was sick again. Hopefully it is gone now. Good thing because he was not going to drink that Pedialite junk we tried to give him to keep hydrated. The worst thing was the night that he threw up in bed while he was sleeping. :-( It got in his eye, his ear, his hair and of course all over the bed. He was so upset and so were we!!! Thankfully he seems to be feeling better now.

Have lots more fun stuff to post and hopefully will do so faster than this last post!!
