Happy Halloween and other fun-16 months!

Check out our little Wookie, Baby Chewbacca! (and his mother's alter ego!). If you do not know who Chewbacca is, we feel sorry for you and you are ordered to watch the original Star Wars trilogy immediately. :-)

Pumpkin Patch!!

We took Colton to pick out his first pumpkin (on Halloween Eve, oh well, he didn't know and there were a ton of other people there too!) and the place we went had hayrides, pig races, petting zoo and such so we had a good time playing outside together. Colton was willing to pet the goats if we did it first, but if one of them started towards him he would run and cling to one of our legs (or legs that look like one of ours when it got crowded!).

I don't think he agrees with the shirt at this moment!

Updates:

Walking machine: Since we went to Yellowstone in September, Colton has been walking up a storm and now running (although not necessarily well). We LOVE to see him running down the hall towards or away from us. It is so adorable!!

Talking some, not a lot still. Mostly he chooses to shake his head yes and no, so funny and cute!!

Colton waved at everyone when we were on vacation! On the plane, at restaurants, at people walking by--it was so cute! Hopefully he won't develop a complex since A LOT of people surprisingly did not wave back to this cute child waving at them!!

Colton likes to give hugs, especially to other children. He hugs the other kids in his daycare class and the teacher said he would pat the little babies. Sometimes he gets rejected and is a little confused. He also is willing to give hugs to children he doesn't even know, like children at the pumpkin patch! He hugged or tried to hug two kids. I felt like we were kind of stalking this one child, who apparently like to give hugs also, as we kept running into her and Colton would get very excited and they hugged each other at least twice. Maybe he thinks that is the way to greet other children?! It is cute and one of those, "where did he learn that?!" moments.

He moved to new older class at daycare, which we were worried about because he was very attached to the teachers in his other class. For his first 3 months there he was practically the only child in the class, so he had a lot of undivided attention and they adored him also. But, of course, he did great moving to the next class and loves doing things with the older kids like art and playing outside 2ce a day.

Eating:
When we moved him to the older classroom, it would have been nice if they prepared us for the way the kids eat in there because Colton was still eating a lot of baby food. Even though he could feed himself with his fingers, he really didn't seem to be chewing well with his 6 teeth so we were still giving him baby food in addition to finger foods to make sure he was getting enough good stuff. So we had a rough few days trying to quickly transition to more finger foods and teaching him to feed himself some with a spoon...but he caught on quickly and loves to eat like the other children. The trick we have now is that we are still giving him mostly organic or all natural foods and the daycare meals are very processed...but he wants to eat whatever other people are eating (especially if he is eating dinner with us!). SO, we get the menu the week before and try to match up the meals with our own versions and it has been going pretty well for the most part and he is doing well with food at school and home. We certainly have the tossing food and using the spoon as a catapult, but to be expected at this stage! We sweep and vacuum a lot!

Sleeping:
"Oh, the enjoyable 4-5 days straight a few weeks ago when he slept straight through the night." When I started this post in October this was true, BUT thankfully, he has finally started to sleep through the night. He goes to bed between 7:30-8 pm and usually stays that way til 6 or (if we are lucky) 7 am!! Now if we would go to bed early ourselves, that would be lovely!! We did a few rough nights recently because he finally has a few more teeth coming in and also had ear infections in both ears. Hopefully we will continue on this road!

Here are some of Colton's most recent professional pictures and some good family shots:

Fun videos from our trip to Yellowstone. The first is our fearless child. The second is what happened after I cleaned the hotel crib and Colton really wanted the rag I was using, so I had to give him something similar:

Hope you are all preparing for a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones!!

So sorry about the sleep issues...glad to hear they are better for the time being. I hope they stay at bay!
